Just days after Ukraine began accepting crypto donations, the government added Dogecoin to its list of accepted cryptocurrencies today.
Ukraine is now accepting Dogecoin donations, per Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
“Now even meme can support our army and save lives from Russian invaders,” Fedorov tweeted.
This is the latest cryptocurrency-related move on behalf of the Ukrainian government to raise funds amid Russia’s invasion.
Cryptodonations and Ukraine
Last week, the government’s official Twitter account shared Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses when it announced Ukraine was now “accepting cryptocurrency donations.” According to blockchain records, Ukraine has raised over $20 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum combined to date.
The country is also accepting Polkadot donations. The government tweeted this announcement just one day ago, saying, “the people of Ukraine are grateful for the support and donations from the global crypto community as we protect our freedom.”
An airdrop has also been announced for March 3, 2022, at 6 pm Kyiv time.
According to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic, the country has raised a total of more than $35 million in various cryptocurrencies.
